Becky said the addition of the name “Kate” came from her grandma. “She used to call me Becky Kate,” she added.
This wife, and young mom started her business because, “I wanted something for me. I am a mom with four kids ages 8,6,3 and almost a year and a half. I wanted something to do to help others, bring in income, and to make gifts.”
“I’ve always been creative,” she said adding that she has been creating items for the last ten years although her hobby only become a business in the last few years. It’s the creation that she loves.
“I’ll take say the Pawnee School logo but be creative. I like to design. I like a blank screen then try to figure out what I can come up with.”
Growing up attending school in Auburn, Pawnee and Chatham, her family moved to Canton, Missouri, then she returned to Pawnee in 2015.
I do a lot of school stuff,” she said sharing that she wanted to be a hands-on mom and is an active member of Sports Boosters and the PTO. Recently she just completed working with the Pawnee Sports Boosters and coordinates creative T-shirts for sports teams as well. Becky said, “A lot of people always need T-shirts. I just love designing. Most of the designs I do myself.”
She offers cups, tumblers, ornaments and magnets, and said she can also create car coasters. Becky has also designed both tote and makeup bags, many used for weddings. “I have done bridal bundles as gifts etc.”
That is what makes a T-shirt or product special from Becky, the fact that it was created for you, by a Pawnee local, and at the end of the day, you have a one-of-a-kind item, or a one-of-a-kind item for your team, group or business. “I just finished T-shirts for the Junior High Girls Basketball, and I’m getting ready to do a fund raiser,” she added saying she also has an upcoming project with the Pawnee Junior High Cheerleaders.
To keep the cost down for the school, Becky offers extra shirts and the money from the extras she donates back to the school. Becky means it when she says she wants to give back to the community.
Becky also works with businesses like Plexus, a health company, to create items. “I also d o a lot of holiday items as well.”
These holiday items make great Christmas gifts. Experienced with affiliate marketing, Becky also shares products that she personally uses on her Life With Becky Kate Facebook page. Customers can shop and she will get a commission, but the customers buy a product that they can trust because she uses and has vetted it. “Just go to Life With Becky Kate, it’s a one stop shop,” she said.
Becky offers live chats where she shares some of the companies she works with like Head Kandy. In the chats she shows how she uses the products and talks about her experience with them. Someday she may want to expand. “There’s a lot I’d love to do, I’d like to get into a boutique making graphic T’s, but this is a busy time,” she said referring to her busy family life. Married to Rich Combes, he is a sales manager for her parent’s family business, Springfield Furniture Direct. “They sell furniture, mattresses, etc.,” she said.
