Officer Price was killed when a vehicle that was being operated by an intoxicated driver struck him at 0130 hours. Officer Price was involved in a pursuit with a vehicle which ended in the suspect vehicle crashing. When Officer Price and his partner exited their patrol car to investigate the crash, a 10 ton grain truck, which was being operated by an intoxicated driver, struck the squad car pushing it into Officer Price and his partner. Officer Price was killed and his partner injured.
The driver of the grain truck was never charged because the State’s Attorney indicated they did not have sufficient evidence to prosecute on charges of D.U.I. and Reckless Homicide.
