ESDA Coordinator Vacancy
The Village of Pawnee is seeking applicants for an ESDA Coordinator to lead disaster preparedness and response. Scott Day has served in the role since March 2012 and is stepping down to focus on family and his other roles in the community. The entire Village is thankful for Scott’s years of service and faithful dedication. Thank you Scott!
Ideal candidates should possess strong leadership and organizational skills, as well as experience in emergency management. Responsibilities include plan development, volunteer training, interagency coordination, and emergency communication.
To be considered, Village residents should submit a letter of interest detailing why they would be an ideal candidate for the position. Letters of interest must be received at the Village Office, located at 617 7th Street, no later than 2:00 PM on April 11, 2025.
The final selection will be made by the Mayor with the advice and consent of the Village Board.
Opening for Full-Time position in Sewer/Parks Department
The Village of Pawnee is seeking applicants for a full-time position in the Sewer / Parks Department. Experience in Public Works and a valid CDL is preferred, however, all interested applicants may apply. The position will require the ability to obtain a spray license and a Class B CDL within twelve months of hiring. Hours are M-F 7:30a – 4:00p. Pay will start at $24.00 per hour with Health, Vision, & Dental Insurance, IMRF retirement, vacation, sick time, and paid holidays. Applicants must reside within 15 miles of city limits or be willing to move within a reasonable amount of time.

Opening for Full-Time position in Gas/Water Department
The Village of Pawnee is seeking applicants for a full-time position in the Gas/Water Department. Experience in the natural gas/water utility services is preferred, however, all interested applicants may apply. The position will require gas certification training and the ability to obtain a Class B CDL within twelve months of hiring. Hours are M-F 7:30a – 4:00p with a rotating On-call scheduled among department employees. Pay will start at $24.00/hr with Health, Vision, & Dental Insurance, IMRF retirement, vacation, sick time, and paid holidays. Applicants must reside within 15 miles of city limits or be willing to move within a reasonable amount of time.

Erika Guess Appointed to Vacant Trustee Position
Erika Guess was appointed to fill a vacant Village Board Trustee seat at the regularly scheduled September 9th board meeting. The position was recently vacated when Trustee Brian Whitlow moved out of Village limits. Trustee Guess will be on the ballot in April 2025 to seek election for the remaining two years of the seat’s term.
Mayor Clarke presented the Trustees with his suggestion for her appointment saying, “She is very involved in our community and plans to raise her two young children here. I think she will be a valuable asset to this board and the residents of Pawnee.” Trustees affirmed her appointment unanimously.
Trustee Guess and her husband Travis moved to Pawnee in 2014 and have two children, Gracie and Theo. She is the Pre-K coordinator and is a Pre-K teacher at Pawnee Grade School, Vice President of Pawnee Schools PTO, and coaches youth volleyball.
Trustee Guess said, “I am excited to hold this position and look forward to representing the people of Pawnee.”

The Village of Pawnee is seeking applicants for a vacancy on the village board due to the departure of Trustee Brian Whitlow who is moving out of town and resigning before his position expires on April 30, 2027.
To be considered, village residents should submit a letter of interest detailing why they would be an ideal candidate to fill the vacancy. Letters of interest must be received in the Village Office at 617 7th Street no later than 2:00pm on August 30th, 2024.
Final selection will be made by the Mayor with the advice and consent of the village board.

2023/2024 Watermain Replacement Project: Phase 2
Phase 1 of the FY24 Watermain Replacement project,4th and 5th Streets from 104 to Kay Layne was completed in late October ’23. Water Supervisor Andy Lee said “Petersburg Plumbing did a great job keeping the project on schedule. We were able to connect updated services with little interruption to homeowners.”
Phase 2, involving 8th Street from Lincoln to Franklin, as well as Lincoln and Franklin from 8th Street to 10th Streets, began on Nov 27th and is expected to take 3 months to complete. Crews will start on Lincoln St and work their way towards 8th Street, then north on 8th to Franklin, and back west to 10th street. Please be on the look out for road closure notifications and boil orders as work progresses.
